Elightening Can of Words Session Right Before a Longer Interview
It took us well into the day to find an interlocker so we did a couple of sessions of the can of words as we waited. The words that came up got me to process ideas out loud which I haven't had the chance to do before. One was "sin" and the other "Spiritual." I discussed how the word sin was so different from other religions then from Christianity that I grew up in.
I discussed how I noticed that in Buddhism it was used far more sparingly, which, to me made me pay closer attention to the few times it was brought up. Instead of being so God centric like the first four of the ten commandments they seem to be more about causing harm to humans that we for sure know exist. Some of the Buddhist sins include greed, hatred, and ignorance. I recommend this discription for Doug's Dharma: Do Buddhists Believe in Sin?
I enjoyed this deep dive conversation and look forward to participating in the can of words this year and perhaps go over what other words can go in the can.
